Love for Lantern

We tried four donuts and they were stunning!! We sampled all of them and the flavors were outstanding. They weren’t too sweet but every bit delicious!! The seasonal apple fritter was amazing!!! Huge chunks of apple and the perfect amount of spice!!Would definitely go again!!

The staff was kind and the coffee was amazing! The coffee was different than any coffee I've ever tasted-I could ACTUALLY taste the fruit notes listed-strawberry and starfruit flavors. Very fun and very interesting!

Beautiful shop, came in specifically for the apple fritter for my husband and left with two and some others. Great flavors, the donuts are light, and the flavors are spectacular. The service was outstanding as well, the care he took in explaining each donut flavors before you purchased was great. I’m not a huge apple fritter fan, however, I would definitely eat an entire one of these by myself. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Lantern Donuts is an absolute 10/10. Their gourmet organic donuts are among the best I’ve ever had, truly rivaling my favorites from Japan! The Sweet & Salty was phenomenal, not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and finished with an impactful punch of salt that made the flavor unforgettable. It even sat well on my usually fickle stomach, which isn’t usually the case with fried foods. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful, and the whole place has a fun, trendy atmosphere. I already can’t wait to return, just earlier next time, or with an order placed ahead, so I can try all my favorite flavors!

Outstanding, unique donuts and awesome pour-over coffee!

We tried the 26 Carrot donut and it was phenomenal! We love how the ingredients are locally sourced and that it is fried in coconut oil instead of seed oils. The employees were very friendly. Definitely will be back!

This place is so vibey. First time trying it, will definitely be back. So many unique flavors to choose from, my favorite is the crème brûlée donut. They also have very delicious coffee if you like your coffee more black vs super sweet and milked down lattes. Recommend trying out if you're visiting CDA.

Too notch donuts. Creativenand well executed flavors, especially the blackberry and creme brulee donuts. The blackberry has notesnof rosemary to balance the sweetness and add complexity. The creme brulee filling is divine, with copius amounts of real vanilla bean. The cold brew is also world class. Clearly this place really cares about what they make. Service was also perfect. Highly recommended.

10/10. Such unique flavors and the donuts are great quality. HIGHLY recommend the crème brulee donut as it is packed with custard and the top has that satisfying burnt sugar. We walked into Lantern Donuts on Sherman Avenue a little standoffish. After a nice morning hike in Coeur d’Alene, we stopped in to see what the buzz was about, and we thought, How in the world could anyone improve on a donut? Being from Kentucky, it isn’t often we see something elevated to this level. This place proved us wrong. My wife had the Raspberry Cheesecake. I had the Canadian Candy Bar. From the very first bite, you can taste love. You can taste care. You can taste passion. It’s all right there. These donuts are on a whole different level—one we’ve never experienced. We’re not even that big of donut lovers, but we could eat these every day. The young lady who took our order was helpful and patient. We assume the owner was in the back; he boxed them up, brought them to the counter, handed them to us, and thanked us for stopping in. The whole thing was an incredible experience. If you’re local or just passing through, check this place out. It’s definitely worth it. Next time we’re in the neighborhood, we’ll be back. Thank you for the care and the love..

Lantern Donuts is officially our new favorite spot in CDA! I had the huckleberry and my husband had the chocolate, both were absolutely incredible. What really sets Lantern apart for us is the quality of the ingredients: organic and locally sourced, NO seed oils, and the donuts are cooked in coconut oil! It’s so refreshing to find a place where you can treat yourself and still feel great about what you’re eating. I already plan on making a Lantern donut a very regular treat We also met the general manager, Kevin, who was outstanding! He spent so much time chatting with us about Lantern’s story and what they have planned for the future. You can tell there’s so much passion behind this place. We’re especially excited for the savory donuts coming soon!! CDA needed a place like this. Amazing donuts, intentional ingredients, and wonderful people, we’ll definitely be regulars!

Finally got to get the Creme Brulee donuts before they disappeared again. Best cream filled donut I've ever had, and the sugar on top added so much to the experience. Would absolutely buy again, can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Update: tried the Huckleberry donut and the Grapefruit donut, both were delicious. My wife tried the raspberry cheesecake, and loved it

This little shop is an absolute downtown gem with delicious donuts, phenomenal in-house roasted coffee, and friendly staff, it's well worth it to stop in! Their seasonal flavors and rotating chef's specials are out of this world, with the top-tier ingredients and expert flavor pairings shining through in every bite. Of course the donuts look and taste too good to try just one, so I had to get a few to experience all that Lantern has to offer! I particularly enjoyed the peach melba, which is a newer seasonal offering but one I hope stays around for a while because I can't get enough! Lantern Donuts is a real treat and I'm looking forward to my next visit

Wow, wow, wow! What a delightful place to stop by during our visit to Coeur d'Alene! This donut place will not disappoint! Unique donut varieties that are freshly prepared and served by a super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Can't recommend stopping by enough! Such a treat for all of your senses. Order half a dozen and share with friends! That way you get to sample even more of the amazing flavors! We couldn't decide which ones were our favorite!

The man serving me was so kind and patient with everyone, he also offered the people in line complimentary donut holes to try while waiting in line (which moved pretty fast anyways). i tried the maple bacon, and the creme brulee donut. both were absolutely delicious but the crunch of the creme brulee mixed with the softness of the donut and sweet creamy filling was what stood out to me. definitely a place i wouldn't skip checking out!

Absolutely phenomenal place!!! We’ve been many many times and my 8 year old son chose to have his birthday there yesterday. The coffee is also so smooth and delicious. We can’t wait to go back….tomorrow haha!

These are the best donuts!! Ever!! The salted caramel brioche donut just melts in your mouth, it's delicious. The maple brioche is more subtle flavor but also delicious. We tried a couple seasonal flavors too and they were all really good!

The staff were so nice and friendly, even though the place was absolutely slammed for the 4th. Definitely not the cheapest donuts around, but they're so light and airy and their flavor selection is such a nice change from your typical run of the mill donuts that you find everywhere else.

My wife and I randomly spotted this place while driving through town. I’m so glad we decided to check it out because the donuts were AMAZING. True definition of a “gourmet” donut.

We had such an amazing experience! Everyone there was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain their donuts, how they’re made, and the high-quality ingredients they use. I love that they focus on organic ingredients, avoid seed oils, and create seasonal flavors using ingredients they actively source themselves. We tried the fir-tipped donut, and honestly, I was hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about pine in a donut. But it was absolutely incredible! The flavors came together in a way that was unique, balanced, and surprisingly delicious. We also got the crème brûlée donut, and it was every bit as good as the hype suggests. So rich, flavorful, and perfectly done. While the donuts are a bit on the pricey side, they’re absolutely worth it considering the care they put into both their ingredients and their customer experience. I love discovering new local spots, and this is definitely one we’ll be coming back to. 🤤🔥🍩

Wow!!! A little hole in the wall with HUGE flavor. Kevin the barista was super welcoming and sold us on the gourmet donuts. Our boy tried the citrus hibiscus, which had a complex level of sour balanced by sweet. Our girl tried the Nutella donut which had a rich chocolate but not overwhelmingly sweet. Each were pillowy soft. The best for me was the coffee. Very rich flavor, perfect for someone who wants a pick me up at any time during the day. Highly recommended!

Talk to the guy at front for several minutes he told me everything I never even knew I needed to know about their donuts. I’ve always said when someone comes up here and really invest the time and energy into making truly well-thought-out donuts from scratch, they’re gonna kill it and these guys are definitely there. Best doughnuts I've had IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. No joke, these doughnuts will blow you away. One bite, that's all you need to know. Definately a must try if you're downtown CDA. Also, incredible owner - these people care and are worth supporting.

This is the hippest thing to happen to CDA since the few wine professionals began arriving a decade and more ago. It’s innovative, creative, downright esoteric to the uninitiated or unsophisticated; but worth the elevated price required for such thoughtful recipes and curated and clean ingredients. This is intelligent food, if that term confuses you then this place is likely not for you. If Dunkin’ is beyonce then this place is Bach. Both are nominally doughnuts but one is objectively far superior, as is the case with art. One special this morning was Forest Fern—the edible botanicals in the item were delicate but pronounced, and perfectly balanced. The sweetness was perfect and not overwrought. Well done. It will be curious to see how this gem of a place fares.

What a cute little shop! It seems like they're in the middle of a soft opening and I overheard they sound like the grand opening will be soon! Service was great, the man who helped us was so good and incredibly knowledgeable about the product, went over every donut with us using the display case Got 3 donuts, the creme brûlée and the Canadian candy bar were the standouts for sure. I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a high quality donut.

The most INCREDIBLE donuts I've ever had. Soft, fluffy and with the most delicious, flavorful glaze that was perfectly sweet. Some of the BEST donuts we have ever had!! The donuts are so thick and pillowy, absolutely perfect. I also love that they cook their donuts in coconut oil and that we found a rotational menu I could eat from since I have nut allergies. They were totally understanding of me asking questions on my allergy. My favorite is the sweet and salty + creme brulee donut!!

Great donuts and great ownership! Don’t be afraid to be adventurous, even the niche donuts are great! I got one of the “forest flavor” donuts that had candied fir buds and the pine flavor was only a subtle essence that made it an experience. This is not your run of the mill donut shop where you get a few maple bars, bavarians, and old fashions. Their staples are elevated to a gourmet level and make a great treat. As of writing this, the walls are bare and the inside is unassuming, but looking at the care and attention they put into their branding on their menus and signage I look forward to see how they end up decorating the place as I’m sure it’ll be cool and vibey!

I had the Donas De Mayo and my wife had the crème brûlée, and wow, the flavors were so balanced and so fresh and vibrant, FOR A DONUT!🍩 something also important to note, my wife is gluten intolerant and she did not have a hard time with these!!! Donuts are delicious. Owner explained the donut flavors and let us sample the sunflower seed brittle. We couldn't decide and got one of everything to share. We were very happy with the unique flavors. My favorite was the sour apple.

Went to Lantern for the first time this morning, and we will for sure be back! The man at the front counter was absolutely wonderful in explaining the options, very knowledgeable answering any questions, and so kind to our daughter. Donuts and coffee were delicious! Can’t wait to see their seating area when it’s complete.

Popped over for a walk by the lake and some donuts. Drip coffee was well balanced and fresh. The donuts were pillowy, sweet and salty in the best way possible. Now I will certainly have to try them all. Can’t wait to see what they create within the space they have.

The best doughnuts I’ve ever had! They were fresh, still warm, and absolutely delicious! We got the sweet & salty, pistachio, and sweet chocolate. The atmosphere wasn’t what I was expecting, I don’t say that in a negative way, but it’s actually genius - a pick up and go style from when we went in. Which was about 30 minutes before closing time. They have seating outside which is convenient. The gentleman, who I assume is the owner, and the younger gentleman (maybe son?) were both very kind. We tried a donut ball that were fresh and given as samples (not on the menu) and that was delicious as well. We can’t wait to go back! Oh, and we absolutely love that they are organic ingredients. That is huge for us. Especially when it comes to sweets.

It’s impossible not to fall in love with the place. You can truly tell how much care, effort, and pride they put into both their shop and their food. You can definitely tell they’re made from scratch using organic, local, and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. The donuts taste light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, not heavy or greasy, so you can enjoy every bite and actually feel good about it. Hands down the best donuts in North Idaho. If you’re in downtown CDA, this place is an absolute must-try.

Kevin was exceptional, came here with my family yesterday after a much anticipated wait! We drove about 40min to get here and my husband called to make sure they would have some donuts left & Kevin set some aside for us just in case. The location downtown is super easy to find & will do so awesome in the coming months. He walked us through the menu and explained the seasonal rotation (which we love as foodies!) We ordered almost one of everything but the stand outs were easily the Lemon & Matcha WOW. As a bakery owner & foodie this place was great, sounds like they’re working on some seating and a relaxing setup soon! Big congrats to the team & owners here and we all can’t wait to support you!

Oh my goodness gracious. This place has the best donuts I have ever tasted in my entire life. It can’t compare to anything else we have tried. Each donut is crafted for a unique one of a kind flavour. The butterscotch chocolate tasted like a bite back in time. So soft, full of flavor, and melts in your mouth. Fantastic products. The donuts were delicious, especially the creme brulee. Customer service was fantastic. I ordered online and they confirmed the order as well as sent an email once it was ready for pickup (ahead of the scheduled time.) When a delay in arriving for pickup arose, a simple phone call quickly resolved the issue with the staff being extremely understanding and gracious in finding a solution to facilitate the pickup.

These are hands down the best donuts we've ever had. The detail to quality, ingredients and the art presented in each one is unparalleled. Because we prioritize real food in our family, we would not have considered ourselves donut connoisseurs until Lantern. We feel great after eating them and giving our kids some. This unassuming donut shop is quietly whipping up some seriously inventive and scrumptious donuts. The interior is sparse (it's grab and go, no seating), but if you are looking to pickup a special treat, this is THE spot. They also roast their own coffee from diverse growing regions all over the world. A nice, artisanal touch.

Lantern is a fun treat we like to order for a Saturday morning. We all pick a favorite off the menu, split into fourths, and toast test our way through my family’s favorites. It’s fun to try their creative flavors, and it’s nice to know we’re eating pastries that aren’t filled with all the bad stuff for you. Current family favs: mint fittest donut and matcha!

Not only are the donuts phenomenal and so fun to see what the team is creating each week, the people that make up Lantern Donuts are what makes them such a great place! I'm excited to see what's in store for them as they continue to grow into their shop. They have been the best addition to downtown Coeur d'Alene!

These might be the best donuts I’ve ever had! When you use organic ingredients, nothing artificial (color, flavor, etc) and fry in coconut oil… the result is perfection! I love the rotating flavors and the classics. I’ve been a fan since day 1 and I can’t wait for the seating area to be in full operation!

I wholeheartedly believe Lantern Donuts is worth the hype. Sure, $4–$7 for a donut might seem steep, but when you consider that each one is handcrafted with no preservatives, seed oils, or artificial ingredients, the price makes total sense. These are truly gourmet treats, and every flavor is unique, I know I won’t find the same donut anywhere else. I also love that their menu is always changing! Plus, if you haven’t tried their coffee, it’s just as delicious as the donuts.

I have been wanting to try a creme brûlée donut for a long time, looked all over Spokane / CDA area and didn’t find any. Finally found it at Lantern donuts and wow, so so tasty. The dough is soft, very tasty with the sugar crunch on top and the custard filling, definitely my type of dessert. I love the fact they have different flavor every month and even more that everything is organic and free of seed oils. 10/10. Definitely recommend!

Lantern Donuts is doing something truly special. These are donuts unlike anything I’ve ever tried—each one feels thoughtfully crafted with unique, elevated flavor profiles that you don’t usually find in a donut shop. You can immediately taste the quality in every bite. I tried the lemon and the butterscotch, and both were incredible, but as a lemon person, that one really stole my heart. It’s also exciting to see new additions to the menu and watch the creativity keep growing. Having a place this elevated in our small town is such a treat, and I can’t wait to go back and try more.

The donuts are always amazingly fresh and delicious. Each bite is incredibly soft unlike donuts you get from other places. The unique variety of flavors makes each one truly special and a real treat. The coffee is also delicious. I have purchased several bags of whole roasted beans and they are one of my favorites in town. The complexity of flavors when brewed makes for a fantastic cup of coffee.

The donuts were amazing! I am not a fan of cake donuts but Lanterns cake donut was so moist and delightful! Not too sweet and no oil flavor!

We came in this morning and got 4 of the yummiest donuts! We had the creme brule, world's fittest, lemon and maple. The guys behind the counter were so nice and you can tell they're very grateful for the videos on social media and traction that they're getting. Onto the donuts- The creme brule had the creamiest custard and perfect donut consistency. It is also the only reason for the 4 star. It's absolutely beautiful. The only drawback was how hard the top was. You couldn't bite into it. The world's fittest was absolutely perfection in the form of a donut! If you are a mint chocolate lover this is the one for you! The lemon was the best surprise of the morning. It had the most amazing crunch to the icing and the lemon profile was way stronger than expected in the best way. The maple was such a good staple to round out the tasting.

Lantern Donuts has just become my favorite donut spot (and I didn't even love donut before lol). I love the fact they have different donuts every month and they come up with the best flavor combinations. I've had the white chocolate peppermint, crème brûlée and matcha donuts...I can't wait to come back and try new ones. I'm glad we have an organic / seed oil free donut shop nearby.

Incredible artisan doughnuts and pastries. I went there to try their product, because I learned that they use healthy fry oil. I had no idea how much better the product was going to be than others.

I am not a donut person and I love Lantern Donuts.They are a culinary experience - not your typical average donut. I have tried many different flavors of their hand crafted delights and they are PHENOMENAL. I highly recommend getting a pack of a bunch of flavors and sampling them all!

Oh my gosh. This is without a doubt the best donut shop in the pnw. Better than dough joy or general porpoise or even zuris in Seattle. Better than OG voodoo from 20 years ago. Better even than doughnut project in nyc (rip). We have some true must visit places in this area (ruins and Kim’s Korean in Spokane, cafe carambola, best sandwich shack and el jefe in cda) that are as good at what they do as anywhere in the country and should be on any foodies map. This is that for donuts, a true treasure.

These donuts are the best donuts in Northern Idaho! You do such a great job with every detail of each ingredient, making these beautiful unique donuts.

Think in-season, farmers market–style, locally sourced ingredients. They now rotate flavors every two weeks, and their model just keeps getting better. Priced at $4 for standard donuts and $6 for premium ones, it’s worth every penny. There’s also a chefs-choice $8 option that’s usually a collaboration with another local business — often with multiple components that make it something special. You can tell when intention and love are put into food, and this place does just that. As if that weren’t enough, I was given a bag of their Yanesha Co-op espresso beans, which they roast in-house — I mean, how much better does a business get?

I'm so glad a bougie doughnut place has opened in downtown CDA and I look forward to their ongoing, exciting and eclectic flavours. Their seasonal squash feature was probably one of the best doughnuts of my life, i'm still dreaming about it. They ain't doing anything half hearted over there !

It was my first time in Lantern Donuts and their 10 year old son took care of me. He was so kind, polite and easy to talk to. He helped me out to my vehicle and was so helpful. Donuts were also great but the customer service was 100%.

We were in Coeur d'Alene for a wedding and got several boxes of these high end donuts to share with the wedding party. Everyone loved them! They were easily the best donuts I've ever had!! The flavors were amazing ...everyone cut them into fourths so we could all try the different flavors. I got home from the trip wishing we still had some (and wishing Coeur d'Alene wasn't so far away.) We also bought a few bags of the coffee sold at this shop which was truly exceptional!! Fortunately we did get to take the coffee home and enjoy it for longer. So definitely check that out if you stop in.

Lantern Donuts is a premium experience! The donuts are made from scratch in house, with all fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Fried in coconut oil, no seed oils! A huge win for many people who care about their health. These donuts are incredible! I've gotten to try several of them. The recent Peach Bourbon donut so far has been my favorite! Each donut is so creative, and hand made with care. These are small batch donuts, so you need to get in early to snag them, or pre-order online. The coffee is great too. Right now they only roast single origin coffees in house, which really brings out the unique flavors in each coffee. I've had the Ethiopian Guji and it was delicious. It's a family run business, so you may get to meet the kids!

When we were visiting CDA from Tennessee, heard about the new donut shop in town and wanted to give it a try! Walked into the shop where we were met by the friendly staff at the front who shared with us the menu for the week. The Cold Joe donut was in high demand even at 9am but was able to snag one, while we also picked up a Delicata Delight. The Cold Joe was fantastic with the cocoa meringue and cold brew glaze. Can honestly say I've never had anything like it and would 100% get it again. The Delicata Delight was a unique blend of flavors that paired perfectly together. Looking forward to returning and trying other seasonal flavors!

I've always had the mentality that if I'm going to do something typically associated with poor health outcomes, it had better be good. Typically, donuts/doughnuts would fall squarely in this "it had better be good" category. Lantern has blown up this MO! Not only are these, hands down, the best donuts I've had, Lantern throws this curve ball into equation by making everything from scratch, using as many organic ingredients as they can, and never using seed oils! I'd been scratching my head for years wondering why this couldn't be done, and here we are, Lantern has done it. I love that they exist and I think they're going to be around for a while.

Lantern Donuts makes beautiful, high quality donuts without seed oils. Everything is fried in coconut oil, which is amazing! They are not officially open yet, but I got to try some through their pre-orders. The Local Carrot was my favorite. The cream cheese frosting and carrot candy topping were so good! I can’t wait for them to open downtown!

Ok, so I have only gotten to taste one doughnut… it was absolutely amazing. It had to be the best doughnut I have ever tasted. The texture is wonderful, unlike any other. I had the maple bacon and was concerned I wouldn’t like it because I don’t like icing… to my shock, it was not overly sweet. Absolutely delightful!!!
